Message for peace from YWEPS
Each
year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21
September. The General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to
strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and
peoples.
The
theme of this year’s International Day of Peace is the “Right of Peoples to
Peace”.
Wonderful
theme indeed, but how?
Considering
current situation, how can we say to people, make them believe, that they have
right to peace? Today, in absolutely chaotic conditions, when almost each part
of our beautiful world is involved in military campaigns, when every day thousands
of people die by gun, how to keep trust in peace in ordinary citizen, who wakes
up every day with thoughts how to stay alive and to save their children?
These
questions are really complicated and the worst side is that we do not have the
proper and clear answers on them. But we definitely know the fact that we all
have RIGHT TO PEACE and we should fight for it as we fight for the right to
live. I think these two rights are very close
and sometimes are the same.
All
of us should encourage each other, that we have right to peace and we should
fight for it through all possible peaceful ways, because we have to use PEACE
FOR PEACE instead of war for peace. This is the most important one, because I
believe that
“If
we are to reach real peace in this world and if we are to carry on a real war
against war, we shall have to begin with children; and if they will grow up in
their natural innocence, we won’t have to struggle, we won’t have to pass
fruitless idle resolutions. But we shall go from love to love and peace to
peace, until at last all the corners of the world are covered with that peace
and love for which, consciously or unconsciously, the whole world is
hungering.”

Gandhi
